How the Challenger 8 Performs
Underfoot, the compression moulded EVA midsole delivers soft, stable cushioning. That extra foam helps absorb impact on hard packed trails and still feels smooth on asphalt. For longer runs, it reduces leg fatigue without feeling unstable.
The 4mm multi directional lugs are spaced and angled to grip on loose gravel, dirt and uneven ground. The updated lug layout improves traction when climbing or descending, while remaining comfortable on sealed roads. It is suitable for light mud but not designed for deep, technical terrain.
Up top, the 100% rPET engineered mesh upper keeps airflow high during warm North Island conditions. It also dries reasonably quickly after stream crossings or wet grass. The durable 3D printed toe cap protects against rocks and roots, which matters on rocky South Island trails.
A plush collar helps reduce ankle rub on longer runs, and reflective details add visibility for early morning or evening sessions.
