YONEX Nanoflare Nextage Badminton Racket
The YONEX Nanoflare Nextage is a head light badminton racket built for intermediate to advanced players who want faster swing speed and sharp shuttle acceleration. It suits competitive club play, school tournaments and regular training sessions across New Zealand. If your game relies on speed, counter attack and quick net exchanges, this racket is designed for that style.
It combines manoeuvrability with strong repulsion, helping you generate power without a heavy head feel.
Fast Through the Air, Sharp on Contact
The head light balance allows quicker racket handling during drives, defensive lifts and flat rallies. In doubles especially, that faster swing can make the difference when reacting to smashes or intercepting at the net.
The Sonic Flare System works with high modulus graphite and Nanocell NEO to improve repulsion. In practical terms, you get a crisp response off the string bed and better shuttle acceleration, even when you are slightly off centre.
For singles players, it supports rapid transitions from defence to attack without feeling sluggish late in long rallies.
Frame and Shaft Construction
The Aero Frame design reduces air resistance, helping maintain swing speed. The Isometric head shape increases the effective sweet spot compared to a traditional oval frame, giving more forgiveness on off centre hits.
A Super Slim Shaft improves aerodynamics while maintaining control. The Energy Boost CAP PLUS supports the shaft and enhances stability through impact, which helps with directional accuracy on fast exchanges.
The built in T Joint strengthens the connection between frame and shaft for improved durability and a more solid feel.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the YONEX Nanoflare Nextage suitable for beginners?
It is better suited to intermediate and advanced players. Beginners may find a more flexible and forgiving entry level badminton racket easier to use.
What does head light mean in a badminton racket?
Head light means more weight is distributed towards the handle. This improves swing speed and manoeuvrability, which is useful for doubles and defensive play.
What string tension should I use on the 4U model?
The recommended range is 20 to 28 lbs. A tension around 22 to 24 lbs provides a balance of power and control.
How does it compare to head heavy YONEX rackets?
Head heavy models typically offer more raw smash power but slower handling. The Nanoflare Nextage focuses more on speed, control and rapid shuttle acceleration.
Is it durable for regular club play in New Zealand?
Yes. The built in T Joint and high modulus graphite construction provide solid durability for consistent training and competitive matches.
*Frame Only - please purchase strings separately if required.

Badminton Rackets are labelled with two parts that indicate their size:
-
Weight (U number): tells you how heavy the racket is.
-
Grip Size (G number): tells you how thick the handle is.
The grip size will come immediately after the weight code. For example, in 4U5: 4U = racket weight & 5 = Grip Size (circumference).
Racket Weights
Choosing the right racket weight makes a big difference to how you play. Here is a simple breakdown to help you pick the right fit.
-
3F (60-64g): Super light, fastest handling - great for players wanting maximum manoeuvrability.
-
2F (65-69g): Ultra-light, quick reactions - suits defensive or control-focused play.
-
5U (75-79g): Very Light, easy manoeuvring - great for defensive or all-round styles.
-
4U (80-84g): Light and quick - Ideal for doubles and fast rallies.
-
3U (85-89g): Balanced weight - all-round styles and the most popular option traditionally.
Grip Sizes
Badminton racket grips should be big enough so that when holding the handle correctly (like shaking someone's hand), the tip of your ring finger shouldn't touch your palm.
-
G4 - 86mm circumferential grip size.
-
G5 - 83mm circumferential grip size.
-
G6 - 80mm circumferential grip size.
If you are unsure of your racket grip size, you can always opt for the smaller option and make it bigger with the addition of an overgrip.
Please note: racket weights and grip sizes can vary slightly between brands.
