Pro 5.0 Grade Willow

The grain structure may not be perfectly straight, with some visual imperfections and redwood in the playing area and have some heartwood present. These bats offer great value and performance.

---------------

Kookaburra sources its willow from the UK, working with the world’s leading growers. When grading cricket bats, several factors are considered beyond the key features mentioned above.

  • Performance: Relative to the ping or rebound of the cleft is an integral part of the grading process.

  • Grains: The straightness, and evenness of grains in the willow.

  • Density: Referring to the natural weight of each cleft.

  • Cosmetic: Whether minor or major, blemishes or imperfections—cosmetic or performance-related—are assessed based on their type and where they appear on the bat.

  • Colour: The proportion of sapwood and heartwood (redwood) in the cleft, and any other natural discolouration.
