The Yonex Astrox 99 Tour!

Astrox rackets are an attack-oriented model which can take the lead in a high-speed game with a design that can deliver powerful, steep smashes, allowing players to dominate the court.

Featured Technology: Nanomesh Neo, Aero+Box Frame, Isometric™, Rotational Generator System, Energy Boost CAP, Slim Shaft, Power Assist Bumper, Built-in T-Joint.

  • Flex: Stiff.

  • Balance: Head Heavy.

  • Frame: HM Graphite / NANOMESH NEO / VOLUME CUT RESIN / Tungsten.

  • Shaft: HM Graphite / Namd.

  • Joint: Built-in T-Joint.

  • Stringing Advice: 4U: 20 - 28 lbs, 3U: 21 - 29 lbs.

This racket comes factory strung with brand recommended strings inclusive in the price.

However, customised string selection and tension requests are available once this racket is added to the cart. Simply select your string and we will do the rest! Or if you do not wish to have your racket custom strung (receive ‘as is’ strung with factory strings) just click the ‘NO THANKS’ tab. For assistance, please email info@playerssports.co.nz

As a guide only, please allow for 3 – 7 working days for custom stringing to be completed.

  • Nanomesh Neo: Ensures a stronger more flexible frame, while increased shaft flex creates maximum power.

  • Aero+Box Frame: A combination of faster swing speeds and a solid feel.

  • Isometric™: Square shaped head increases the size of your sweet spot by optimising the intersection of the main and cross strings.

  • Rotational Generator System: By applying the counterbalance theory, weight is distributed throughout the grip end, frame top and the joint for maximum control. The transition to the next shot can be performed smoothly, with rapid succession.

  • Energy Boost CAP: Increased Control. The new shape allows the shaft to flex, which ensures the maximum effect of “Namd[1](more flex and faster kick-back graphite material)” and stabilizes the racket face by preventing the shaft twisting, increasing control.

  • Slim Shaft: Reduces air resistance.

  • Power Assist Bumper: Attached to enforce heavier, increased power by configuring the weight directed into the shuttlecock with a tungsten-infused nylon bumper.

  • Built-in T-Joint: Increases strength between the frame and shaft eliminating head twist for more control.

Badminton racket grips/sizes should be big enough so that when holding the handle correctly (like shaking someone’s hand), the tip of your ring finger shouldn't touch your palm.

These days, most manufacturers are making rackets in a single size, so if you find the grip is too thin then you could apply an overgrip to the handle until you find a grip size/weight that you’re comfortable with.

Badminton racket sizes made simple:

  • 3u5 = 85-89g racket weight, 83mm circumferential grip size.

  • 4u5 = 80-84g racket weight, 83mm circumferential grip size.

Yonex Astrox 99 Tour Cherry Sunburst Reviews

4.0/5 based on 2 customer reviews

Good for smash, but the shaft is quite stiff and heavy head, not suitable for new player or who is not strong enough to swing it. If you really want to try, try 4U only.

Too heavy and stiff for a normal double player. If you play single, that's fine. However if you play double, and need a lot of fast hit, I suggest you won't choose this one, or maybe a 4U version if you are confident on your strengths. On the other hand, the smash is really heavy and steep, I like the feeling. However, there are not many chance to do full power smash when you play double. When you defence, the 90%+ head heavy 99 will not give you much advantages. It's a good racquet, depends on your strengths.
